Our Eagles football team won the District Cubs Plate Competition, and keep the brass plate for a year. Thanks to everyone who took part, cheered us on, or helped with referee or score keeping duties.
Thanks to help from some local artists and adult volunteers, our young people have created a fantastic series of art murals for our Scout Hall. We have a wall depicting our Scouting Values, a wall capturing historic moments in our Group’s last 50 years and a tree representing progressive development through our age groups.
Our Cubs had a great trip to Leeds Synagogue. We learned lots and met some lovely people.
Our local Explorer Unit successfully evaded their “Catchers” to finish second in the Escape hiking challenge. Having been dropped off at a mystery location teams had to choose a route over two days, in atrocious weather, where they had to get to specified checkpoints within particular time windows, whilst avoiding Leaders seeking to intercept them.
We joined 400 others from Ebor District at our first cross Section District Camp
We visited Blackpool Tower on our way to the ScoutCars Championships….and the Pleasure Beach on the way back…
Promoted this year to the Premier Division our Scouts came away with 2nd prize in the Grand Prix. Ben T was also 3rd in the Scouts Division 1 races. Jo and Nikki grabbed 1st and 2nd in the Ladies Leaders race.
Tempest Explorers won the tough Tahwiri Expedition Challenge. This involved a weekend of navigating, hiking and camping, carrying their own gear throughout, and getting to check points for targeted times. They were assessed on various aspects during the expedition.
We met up with Cubs around Ebor District to visit the Zoo. Managed to include a rendition of Alice the Camel…with a real camel!
